More information on 1 to 1 Telephone Advice

So how does a 1 to 1 telephone session work?

Once you have booked a session with your chosen Menopause Support Advisor she will contact you by telephone, or e-mail (within 3 days unless she is away) to arrange a mutually convenient time for you to talk. The Advisor will give you the UK land-line telephone number to ring for your session. She will also ask you about yourself and what you would like to discuss during your session. This will ensure she feels she is best suited to support you through your particular issue.

What can I expect from a telephone advice session?

No two advice sessions are the same, as they are uniquely tailored to you and the particular issue you want to address. All the advice given is based on the Menopause Support Programme with its broad based, non-partisan, supportive approach.

Will the call be confidential?

All our Menopause Support Advisors have many years of experience working with women in a confidential way. What is said on the phone during your session will be known only to you and your Advisor.

What experience and training do Menopause Support Advisors have?

Our advisors have completed comprehensive training on the Menopause Support Programme and each has her own personal menopause experience. They have extensive experience of working with, and supporting, women through the many transitions in a woman's life. Each Advisor has her own individual style, so it is important you read the words they have written and find the one that suits you. Whoever you choose all our advisors aim to help you restore your sense of purpose, self-esteem, energy and confidence during this time in your life.

How many telephone sessions am I likely to need?

This is difficult to tell, as it is really up to you how much on-going individual support you feel you need. Most women have one or two and then have a break to implement the ideas suggested in the sessions. During this time we would encourage you to continue visiting the website, to receive on-going support from the topic talks, Top Tips and Heather's blog.

Do I have to prepare for the session?

All you need is a quiet room where you won't be disturbed - you might like to consider turning off your mobile. Some women like to have a paper and pen handy to make notes. Others like to prepare the room they are speaking from with aromatherapy candles and a comfortable chair.

How might I feel after a session?

We hope you will enjoy your individually tailored session. You should feel well listened to, validated and supported. Knowing that you have a confidential advisor at the end of the phone should ease your sense of isolation and help you see your way forward to a positive future.

Should I consult my GP?

Although all the Menopause Support Advisors will do their best to help you, they are not medically qualified. Their advice and the information from the Menopause Support Programme is not a substitute for taking proper medical advice. If you have major or continuing concerns over your condition, we recommend that you consult your GP.
