What are topic talks?
We run a series of talks on various menopausal topics throughout the year. Book your place on any of the talks that interest you - then just phone at the right time and listen to the short talk, ask any relevant questions or, if you prefer, just listen. The talk will be recorded and made available as a podcast so that you can benefit from the information and advice whenever it suits you.
What will it cost me?
There is no charge for the topic talks. You simply pay for your own phone call. Ringing from the UK, via an 0845 number, will typically cost the same as a local call rate (you may want to check this with your service provider). Alternatively, if you are ringing from outside the UK, the rate will be similar to a normal international call to the UK. Call costs will be shown on your phone bill in the same way as other calls.
What type of phone can I ring in on?
In order to keep a good sound quality for everyone on the call and give you easy access to the call, please do not use Skype, a mobile phone or speaker-phone facility. Please use a corded or high quality hands-free (DECT) telephone for the best result. If you have a two-line phone, please turn the second line ringer off.
What number do I ring?
-
Please ring from your UK land-line 0845 868 9283 or +44 20 3411 4456 if you are ringing from outside the UK.
-
(We are very sorry but we are unable to accept calls from anyone living outside the UK except other European Union countries, Norway and Switzerland.)
-
Once you dial in you will be asked for your conference code which we will e-mail to you when we confirm your booking.
-
You will be welcomed on the call. If you are disconnected, simply ring again.
-
Give your name when prompted, or alternatively if you wish to stay anonymous, then please stay silent.
-
You will be asked to mute your phone, so you can hear us more easily, simply by pressing '#1'. If you want to speak simply un-mute by pressing '#1' again.
When do I ring?
Please ring a few minutes before the start of the topic talk. Please do not ring after the talk has started as you will disrupt the talk - unlike a physical meeting you unfortunately cannot slip in un-noticed! If you miss the call time you will be able to listen to the talk as a podcast in a couple of days.
How long will the call last?
It is difficult to say how long, as this will depend on the number of questions asked, we expect them to last for about half an hour.
Do I have to speak?
No the Advisor will welcome everyone and give a short talk, after which some women may like to ask a question. Most women, though, will just be listening. If you feel you may want to say more, why not join a 'telephone workshop' ?
Can I use the call to discuss a particular symptom I have at the moment?
This is not a suitable time for an in-depth discussion. You would be better to book a 1 to 1 confidential telephone advice session.
Do I have to do anything to prepare for the session?
All you need is a quiet room where you will not be disturbed.
