I recently attended an annual check up at the local hospital,as I had a large polyp removed 12 months ago. Out of the blue the doctor asked me if my arms ached and pointed to my elbows and wrists (I live in Spain so I wasnt familiar with this particular vocab). I do have aching arms, they feel very heavy and the elbow joints feel like I have banged them, sort of bruised. Does anyone else have this and if so whats been tried to alleviate it? I cant be taking painkillers every day. Thank you

Aching arms and generally aching joints are a common problem for menopausal women – it’s thought to be due to the drop in oestrogen that takes place at this time.

There are several natural treatments you can use such as increasing the amounts of ‘good fats’ you eat such as oily fish, nuts and seeds. You could also take an omega 3 supplement – but do get a good quality one – you tend to get what you pay for.

Also diluted aromatherapy oils Juniper and Lavender may help to alleviate the pain.

Thank God I found this site and you gals! For the past two months my arms, elbows and now even my thumbs have been aching and could find no reason for it. Also been quite tearful (most unlike me) and lacking in energy or enthusiasm. I take Menopace but am going to try the recommended Omega 3 oils – I am a vegetarian so hope that the non-fish ones will work as well. And the aromatherapy oils! Thank you
